Gundratimadugu–Khammam Section
Project Overview
The South Central Railway has invited bids for the “Comprehensive Signalling & Telecommunication” work on the Gundratimadugu to Khammam section. This critical infrastructure project spans 65 km of track and encompasses the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of state-of-the-art signalling and telecom systems to enhance safety, capacity, and operational efficiency.
Key deliverables include the deployment of electronic interlocking, axle counter train detection, centralized traffic control signaling, optical fibre communication networks, and wireless communication systems. The contractor shall also provide integrated power supply arrangements, emergency power backups, and a remote fault-diagnosis monitoring system to achieve near-zero downtime.
Scope of Work
- Detailed engineering, procurement, and installation of Solid State Interlocking (SSI) systems.
- Axle counter-based train detection and level crossing protection systems at 8 locations.
- Optical fiber cable laying (85 km) and OPGW integration for telecom backbone.
- Radio communication network with GSM-R technology for in-train and trackside coverage.
- Centralized Train Control Centre setup with dispatcher consoles and SCADA interface.
- Integration with existing Indian Railways Traffic Management Systems (IR-TMS).

Eligibility & Prequalification
Interested contractors must possess:
- Valid ISO 9001 certification for quality management systems.
- Track record of at least two similar signalling projects worth ₹250+ Cr each in the last 5 years.
- Approval from Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO) for supplied equipment.
- Financial turnover of ₹400+ Cr in each of the last three audited financial years.
