📖 About East Central Railway Scouts & Guides Quota Recruitment

East Central Railway (ECR), a premier Zone of Indian Railways, has published Notification for Level-1 & Level-2 posts under Scouts and Guides Quota for the year 2026-27. This is a special recruitment drive for candidates who are active members of Scouts & Guides and possess valid certificates. The engagement is Direct Recruitment for permanent posts in Indian Railways, offering all benefits of a Central Government job including pension (NPS), medical facilities, and career growth under MACP.

Selected candidates will be posted anywhere within the East Central Railway zone (Bihar and Jharkhand states). The application process is completely online through the RRC ECR portal sagq.rrcrail.in. Eligible Scouts & Guides members must apply before the last date.

🎯 Eligibility Criteria

  • Essential Qualification: Active member of Bharat Scouts & Guides with valid certificates for the last 3 years.
  • Educational Qualification (Level-1, erstwhile Group D): 10th pass or ITI or equivalent.
  • Educational Qualification (Level-2, erstwhile Group C): 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent, OR Matriculation + course completed Act Apprenticeship/ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT.
  • Age Limit (as on closing date): For Level-1: 18-30 years, For Level-2: 18-30 years (General). Upper age relaxation for SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, PwBD: 10 years, and others as per Railway rules. Maximum age after all relaxations generally not exceeding 33-43 years.
  • Candidates must possess the prescribed Scouting/Guiding qualifications as detailed in the official notification.

💰 Salary & Benefits (7th Pay Commission)

💵 Level-1 (Group D): Pay Band ₹18,000 – 56,900 + allowances (DA, HRA, TA). In-hand salary approx ₹22,000 – ₹28,000 at starting level.
💵 Level-2 (Group C): Pay Band ₹19,900 – 63,200 + allowances. In-hand salary approx ₹25,000 – ₹32,000 per month.
📈 Promotion & Growth: Candidates will get promotions as per Railway rules (from Group D to Group C, then to higher posts through departmental exams). MACP (Modified Assured Career Progression) after 10, 20, 30 years ensures financial upgradation even without promotion.

1️⃣ Written Examination (Objective Type): Questions based on General Intelligence, General Knowledge, Mathematics, and Scouting/Guiding knowledge. Total marks ~100.
2️⃣ Scouting Skill Assessment (Practical): Candidates who pass the written test will be called for a practical test to judge their Scouting/Guiding skills (e.g., tent pitching, first aid, estimation, etc.).
3️⃣ Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will have to produce original certificates for verification (educational, Scouts & Guides membership, caste, etc.).
4️⃣ Medical Examination: Candidates who clear all stages will undergo a Railway medical fitness test.
