Candidates must possess a Post Graduate Degree in:
- Entomology
- Agricultural Entomology
- Zoology
- Any relevant discipline of Life Sciences
The degree must be from a recognized university.

Candidates must have been selected through a process covered by the applicable DST norms, including one of the following routes:
- CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship, and GATE.
- National-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc., as applicable under the cited DST Office Memorandum.
