Salary Structure & Benefits
7th CPC Pay Matrix: Level 1
Initial Basic Pay: ₹18,000 per month
Maximum Pay (after increments): ₹56,900 per month
Pay Level: Level 1 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix
Additional Allowances & Benefits:
- Dearness Allowance (DA): Currently 46% of basic pay (revised quarterly)
- House Rent Allowance (HRA): 8-24% of basic pay depending on city category
- Transport Allowance (TA): ₹3,600 - ₹7,200 per month
- Overtime Allowance: As per railway rules
- Night Duty Allowance: Additional payment for night shifts

Recruitment Type & Selection Process
Type of Recruitment: Direct Recruitment
This is a Direct Recruitment through competitive examination process. It is NOT contract-based, deputation, or walk-in interview.
Selection Process (4 Stages):
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)
Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for scribe users)
Questions: 100 MCQs (Mathematics: 25, General Intelligence: 30, General Science: 25, General Awareness: 20)
Negative Marking: ⅓ mark for each wrong answer
Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR/EWS: 40%, OBC/SC/ST: 30%
Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
For Male Candidates: Lift & carry 35kg for 100m in 2 minutes + Run 1000m in 4 min 15 sec
For Female Candidates: Lift & carry 20kg for 100m in 2 minutes + Run 1000m in 5 min 40 sec
Exempted: PwBD candidates and Course Completed Act Apprentices
Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)
Verification of original documents including educational certificates, caste certificates, age proof, etc.
Stage 4: Medical Examination
Candidates must meet the prescribed medical standards (A2, A3, B1, or C1 as applicable)
Educational Qualification & Eligibility
Minimum Educational Qualification:
10th pass (SSC/Matriculation) OR
ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certificate OR
Equivalent qualification from recognized board/institute OR
National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT
Important Note:
Candidates must have obtained the required qualification on or before 02.03.2026 (closing date of application). Those awaiting results are NOT eligible.
Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026):
- General/EWS: 18-33 years
- OBC-NCL: 18-36 years (3 years relaxation)
- SC/ST: 18-38 years (5 years relaxation)
- PwBD: Additional 10 years relaxation
- Ex-Servicemen: As per rules
Medical Standards:
Candidates must meet the medical standards specified for each post (A2, A3, B1, or C1). Details available in the official notification.
How to Apply - Step by Step Guide
Important Dates:
Application Start Date: 31 January 2026 (00:00 Hrs)
Application End Date: 02 March 2026 (23:59 Hrs)
Fee Payment Last Date: 04 March 2026 (23:59 Hrs)
Modification Window: 05-14 March 2026
Step 1: Check Eligibility
Verify that you meet the age, educational qualification, and medical standards for the posts you wish to apply for.
Step 2: Visit Official Website
Go to the official RRB application portal: https://www.rrbapply.gov.in
Note: Only use official RRB websites listed in the notification. Beware of fake websites.
Step 3: Create an Account
Click on "Create an Account" and provide details like name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.
Important: Details should match your 10th certificate. Mobile and email cannot be changed later.
Step 4: Choose RRB & Posts
Select ONE RRB/Railway Zone and indicate your preferences for posts/categories within that chosen RRB only.
Step 5: Fill Application Form
Complete the online application form with personal, educational, and category details. Upload live photograph and signature as per specifications.
Step 6: Pay Application Fee
Pay the application fee online: ₹500 (₹250 for SC/ST/ExSM/PwBD/Female/Minorities/EBC). Fee will be refunded after appearing in CBT.
Step 7: Submit Application
Review all details carefully and submit the application. Save/print the application form for future reference.
Step 8: Download Call Letter
Download e-call letter for CBT from the official RRB website 4 days before the exam date.
Application Fee Details:
- General/OBC/EWS: ₹500 (₹400 refundable after appearing in CBT)
- SC/ST/ExSM/PwBD/Female/Minorities/EBC: ₹250 (fully refundable after appearing in CBT)
- Payment Mode: Online only (Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI)
Documents Required for Application:
- 10th/SSLC/Matriculation Marksheet & Certificate (for age proof and qualification)
- ITI/NAC Certificate (if applicable)
- Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates)
- Income Certificate (for EWS/EBC candidates)
- PwBD Certificate (if applicable)
- Ex-Serviceman Certificate (if applicable)
- Recent passport-size photograph (for live capture during application)
- Signature scan (in running handwriting, black ink on white paper)
Posting Locations
The vacancies are distributed across all 18 Railway Zones of Indian Railways. Candidates can choose one RRB/Railway Zone during application. Posting will be within the chosen Railway Zone.

Important Note:
Once appointed, Railway employees are generally posted throughout their service in the Railway/establishment where they are first appointed. Transfers to other Railways are not generally permitted for 5-10 years. Choose your preferred Railway Zone carefully during application.
