The New India Assurance Company Limited (NIACL) is a leading public sector general insurance company under the Government of India with a strong presence in the domestic and international markets. The company operates extensive general insurance business, supported by robust IT and digital infrastructure.
To accelerate its technology roadmap and digital transformation strategy, NIACL invites applications from eligible Indian citizens for the post of Full-Time Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on contract basis. The CTO will be responsible for providing end-to-end leadership for technology, digital platforms, and innovation initiatives.
📌 Position Details, Eligibility & Role Overview
Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – Full-Time, Contractual
Essential Educational Qualification
- Engineering Graduate (B.E./B.Tech) or MCA or equivalent in Computer Science/IT/Electronics or related field from a recognised University/Institution.
Essential Professional Experience (as on 01.01.2025)
- Minimum 20 years of experience in the Information Technology domain.
- Substantial exposure in managing large and complex IT systems, software development, solution architecture, and infrastructure operations.
Desirable Educational Qualifications
- M.Sc./M.Tech in IT/Computer Science with specialization in Information Security, Cyber Security, IT Risk Management etc.
- Professional Project Management certifications such as PMP/PRINCE2 or equivalent.
- MBA (Systems)/PGDM with Systems specialization from reputed institutions.
- Enterprise Architecture/IT Governance certifications such as TOGAF, COBIT, ITIL or similar.
Desirable Professional Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience at senior executive level managing large IT/digital transformation projects of high value.
- Experience in Insurance, Banking, Financial Services or large Technology organisations.
- Hands-on exposure to infrastructure modernisation, applications re-engineering, cloud/multi-tier architecture, and enterprise integration.

- Ability to work under timelines, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and drive innovation in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities & Job Profile
Strategic Technology Leadership
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned with NIACL’s business strategy.
- Lead enterprise-wide digital transformation and innovation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
Technology Governance & Standardisation
- Define technology standards, guidelines, and best practices in accordance with regulatory and security requirements.
- Drive IT governance frameworks, process discipline, and continuous improvement across technology functions.
Architecture, Infrastructure & Modernisation
- Review existing IT architecture and recommend modernisation, consolidation, and optimisation strategies.
- Oversee applications, databases, middleware, networks, and data centres to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.
Risk, Security & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements including DPDP Act, IT Act, IRDAI cyber security guidelines, AML/CFT norms and other statutory directions.
- Strengthen information security controls, data protection measures, and incident response capabilities.
Program Delivery, Vendor & Budget Management
- Monitor key IT projects for timely delivery within approved scope, quality, and budget.
- Manage technology vendors, SLAs, and contractual obligations to ensure effective delivery of services.

Preliminary Shortlisting

Detailed Profile Evaluation
For candidates who broadly meet the criteria, a more detailed assessment of their track record in technology strategy, architecture, cyber security, governance, and transformation initiatives is carried out. Only the most suitable profiles progress to the interaction stage.
Personal Interview / Interaction
Shortlisted candidates are called for one or more rounds of personal interaction/interview. Discussions may cover technology vision, past projects, leadership style, regulatory awareness, and alignment with NIACL’s strategic priorities. The company may conduct these interactions physically or through virtual mode as decided.
Final Merit & Recommendation
Based on interview performance, overall professional profile, experience relevance and organisational fit, a panel prepares its recommendations. Merely attending the interview does not confer any right to selection.
Pre-Employment Checks
Before issuing the offer, the company carries out necessary pre-employment checks such as verification of certificates, reference/background verification, vigilance clearance for candidates from Government/PSUs, and medical fitness assessment as applicable.
Offer of Appointment & Joining
On satisfactory completion of all formalities, the final candidate is issued an offer of appointment on contractual basis. The candidate is expected to join within the stipulated time and execute necessary agreements/undertakings as required by NIACL.
