Eligibility - Scientist-D (Direct Recruitment)
- Essential Qualification: Master's degree from recognized university/institute in Schedule I disciplines OR Bachelor's degree (minimum 4-year) from recognized university/institute in Schedule II disciplines (Engineering/Technology/Biotechnology/Medicine/Veterinary/Pharmaceutical)
- Essential Experience: Minimum 8 years in Research & Development in Industry, Academic Institution, or Science & Technology Organization
- Desirable: Doctorate degree (PhD) in Schedule I discipline OR Master's in Schedule II discipline
- Age Limit: Maximum 40 years as on closing date
- Schedule I Disciplines: Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Earth-Atmospheric Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Computer & Information Sciences, Agricultural Sciences (see notification for full list)
Eligibility - Scientist-C (Direct Recruitment)
- Essential Qualification: Master's degree from recognized university/institute in Schedule I disciplines OR Bachelor's degree (minimum 4-year) in Schedule II disciplines
- Essential Experience: Minimum 4 years in Research & Development in Industry, Academic Institution, or Science & Technology Organization
- Desirable: Doctorate degree (PhD) in Schedule I OR Master's in Schedule II
- Age Limit: Maximum 35 years as on closing date
Eligibility - Scientist-D (Deputation Basis)
- Grade/Level: Scientists or Technologists holding analogous post on regular basis in present cadre/department OR 4 years service on Level 11 (Rs 67,700-2,08,700) or equivalent
- Age Limit: Maximum 56 years as on closing date
- Qualifications: Must possess qualifications and experience prescribed for direct recruits
- Duration: Initially 4 years, extendable as per Government rules; not ordinarily to exceed 4 years without break

- Scientist-C posts are for direct recruitment only (no deputation)

- Use Annexure-I for Scientist-D and Annexure-II for Scientist-C (provided in official notification)
- Type application neatly on thick A-4 size (210x297 mm) plain paper
- Attach self-attested certificates: Educational qualifications, DOB proof, experience certificates, caste certificate (if applicable)
- Include colored passport-size photograph (not more than 3 months old)
- For employed candidates: Apply through proper channel with NOC from employer within prescribed last date
- Complete all columns; do NOT leave any blank (if no information, write "Nil")
- Send application by Speed Post in cover superscribed: "APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF SCIENTIST-D/SCIENTIST-C"

Selection Process
Application Screening → Shortlisting by Committee → Interview -> Document Verification -> Final Selection
- Screening Committee will scrutinize applications and restrict number of candidates for interview based on quality and suitability
- Candidates with requisite qualifications and experience shortlisted for interview
- Interview will assess suitability for ANRF requirements
- Merit list prepared from interviewed candidates based on performance
- Panel valid for 12 months from date of result declaration
- Panel can be used for vacancies arising due to resignations/repatriation until validity
- Outstation candidates called for interview will be reimbursed second AC railway fare (shortest route) on production of tickets
Required Documents for Application
- Self-attested copies of all educational qualifications marksheets (10th onwards)
- Degree certificate and detailed marksheets (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD if any)
- Date of Birth proof (Matriculation/10th certificate/School Leaving Certificate)
- Colored passport-size photograph (not more than 3 months old)
- Experience certificates from all employers (on official letterhead, self-attested)
- Caste Certificate (in prescribed Government format) if claiming SC/ST/OBC reservation
- EWS Certificate if claiming EWS status
- PwBD Certificate (UDID) if claiming disability benefits
- For Deputation: Cadre Clearance, Vigilance Clearance, CR Dossier, APARs for last 5 years, Integrity Certificate, Statement of penalties imposed (if any)
Important Instructions
- Applications received after closing date (45 days / 60 days for remote areas) NOT entertained
- Applications without required supporting documents summarily rejected
- ANRF may restrict candidates called for interview to reasonable limit based on suitability
- Essential qualifications are minimum; mere possession doesn't guarantee interview call
- Number of posts may vary; ANRF reserves right to cancel recruitment without assigning reasons
- Canvassing in any form results in disqualification
- No discrepancy between application and original documents allowed; subject to valid supporting documents/affidavit
- Age limit cut-off date: Closing date of application for India; not extended closing date for remote areas
- Serving Government/PSU employees must apply through proper channel with NOC

Special Notes for PwBD Candidates
- PwBD candidates meeting eligibility encouraged to apply
- Appointment subject to medical fitness examination for Group A posts
- PwBD candidates must mention caste/community (SC/ST/OBC/Gen) and produce community certificate (horizontal reservation)
- One post of Scientist-C reserved for PwBD out of 5 posts
Experience Calculation Rules
- Period for educational qualification: Does NOT count towards experience
- PhD period (up to 2 years max): Counts towards experience if awarded, with valid university certification
- Full-time employment during PhD: If regular/contractual for 2+ years during same period as PhD, experience counted only for employment, not PhD
- PhD not awarded: No experience counted for pursuit period
