Position Overview
Director General (DG), National Power Training Institute (NPTI) is a prestigious senior government position under the Ministry of Power, Government of India. This role involves leading an apex autonomous body responsible for comprehensive human resource development across India's power sector.
NPTI operates through Regional Institutes at Neyveli, Durgapur, Badarpur, Nagpur, Guwahati, Nangal, Alappuzha, and Shivpuri, plus specialized centers at Bangalore. The DG serves as Chief Executive Officer and Head of Department, directly accountable to the Governing Council (chaired by Secretary, Ministry of Power).
The appointment is made on deputation basis for up to 5 years, restricted to date of superannuation or age 60 (whichever is earlier). Residential accommodation provided at NPTI Complex, Sector-33, Faridabad.

Deputation Terms & Conditions
- Deputation Period: Normally not exceeding 5 years from date of appointment as DG.
- Tenure Restriction: Restricted to date on which officer attains superannuation in parent organization, unless extension granted beyond superannuation age.
- Leave & Benefits: Governed by CCS (Leave) Rules applicable to Central Government employees; LTC, Medical Reimbursement as per extant rules.
- Provident Fund: Contribution as per Central Government rules (12% employer contribution).
- Lien: Officer allowed to retain lien in regular post during deputation period.
- Residential Accommodation: Available at NPTI Complex, Sector-33, Faridabad; licence fee applicable.
- Pay Fixation: NPTI follows Central Government pay scales; remuneration fixed accordingly.

Job Description & Duties
- Initiate Training Programmes: Initiate, coordinate, and execute comprehensive training programmes across all power sector disciplines (Thermal, Hydro, Transmission, Distribution, Management).
- Assess Training Needs: Evaluate total training needs of the power sector nationwide and establish additional training facilities as required.
- Modernize Training: Organize training of engineers and operators on modern lines with updated curricula and latest technical developments.
- Update Curriculum: Update curriculum and training methodology to incorporate latest advancements in power plant engineering, modern management practices, and digital technologies.
- Strategic Planning: Process proposals for progress, expansion, and activities of NPTI and its eight regional institutes.
- Administrative Leadership: Administer NPTI's affairs under direction and guidance of Governing Council (chaired by Secretary, Power Ministry).
- Organizational Supervision: Exercise general supervision over various NPTI activities including operations, finance, and HR management.
- Liaison: Maintain coordination with Ministry of Power, Central Electricity Authority, State Governments, Electricity Boards, and other stakeholders.

- Obtain Employer Certifications: Approach your organization (Central Govt / State Govt / Board / PSU / University / IIT / NIT) to complete Part B of the application with required certifications.
- Part B Requirements: Part B must include:
- Verification of age, qualification, experience (as mentioned in Part A)
- Integrity certificate (officer's integrity is beyond doubt)
- Vigilance clearance certificate (no pending/contemplated proceedings)
- No penalty certificate (for last 10 years) OR statement of any penalties imposed
- Attested copies of ACR dossier (last 5 years)
- Confirmation of lien in regular post during deputation
- Organize Documents: Arrange all supporting documents and CR Dossier (5 years' Annual Confidential Reports), vigilance clearance, and no-penalty certificate.
- Route Through Organization: Submit your complete application (Parts A & B) through proper official channel of your parent organization (not direct submission).
- Send to Ministry: Ensure application reaches the Under Secretary, T&R Division, Ministry of Power within the deadline.
- Meet Deadline: Applications must reach within 6 weeks from date of publication in Employment News.
Important Instructions for Applicants
