Territorial Army (TA), under the Eastern Command of the Indian Army, is conducting recruitment rallies across the Northeast region for engaging Soldiers in various categories including General Duty, Tradesman (Chef, Mess Keeper, Washerman, Hair Dresser, House Keeper), and Clerk positions.
The Territorial Army offers a unique opportunity to serve the nation in a part-time or full-time capacity while maintaining civilian careers. This recruitment drive is open to eligible candidates from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and West Bengal at designated venues across the Northeast.
Selection is fair, transparent, and on merit only. The recruitment process includes physical fitness tests, medical examination, trade test (where applicable), written examination, and final merit-based selection. No bribes or agents involved – direct recruitment through official channels only.

Recruitment & Selection Process
Five-Stage Selection Procedure
- Stage 1 - Physical Fitness Test (PFT):
Male: 1-mile run (timed), Pull-ups. Female: 1-mile run (timed), Long Jump, High Jump. Balance Test & 9-foot ditch (qualifying, no marks). Clerk category: Running & Pull-ups are qualifying only (no marks). Scores: 60 marks (time-based), 40 marks (failed). Candidates must report by 10:00 AM. Late arrivals not permitted. - Stage 2 - Medical Examination:
Conducted concurrently with physical fitness tests. Height, chest, weight verification. Vision test, color blindness test, hearing test. Complete medical fitness assessment. Tattoo verification (tribal community tattoos with certificates allowed only on specified body parts). Temporary tattoos NOT permitted. - Stage 3 - Trade Test (If Applicable):
For Tradesman categories: Efficiency test in respective trade. Soldier Clerk: Information Technology & Computer Proficiency test (MS Office, typing, basic hardware knowledge). Testing at unit level by qualified personnel. - Stage 4 - Written Examination:
Bilingual (English & Hindi). Question paper type: Objective (Multiple Choice). Marking: +2 for correct, -1 for incorrect, 0 for unattempted. Negative marking applied. Soldier General Duty: 50 questions, 100 marks (General Knowledge 20Q/40M, General Science 15Q/30M, Mathematics 15Q/30M). Soldier Clerk: 50 questions, 100 marks (Higher Secondary level). Examination conducted after successful physical/medical tests only. - Stage 5 - Screening/Aptitude Test:
For HOME & HEARTH units only (for Soldier General Duty). Conducted after written exam to assess suitability for unit-specific tasks. Final merit list prepared after all tests.

Rally Attendance & Reporting
Step 1: Check Eligibility & Rally Schedule
- Verify you meet ALL eligibility criteria (age, education, physical standards, domicile)
- Identify your domicile state/district and rally date from recruitment schedule
- Note the recruitment venue and exact date allocated for your region
- Confirm rally dates with local army recruitment office if unsure
Step 2: Prepare & Gather Documents
- Birth certificate (original + 2 photostat copies)
- 10th class/Matriculation certificate with marks (original + 2 copies)
- Higher Secondary certificate (for Clerk category) (original + 2 copies)
- Domicile certificate with photograph (original + 2 copies)
- Caste/Community certificate if applicable (original + 2 copies)
- Character certificate from Village Sarpanch/Municipal Corp/SHO (within 6 months)
- Married/Unmarried certificate from Sarpanch/Municipal Corp (if applicable)
- Relationship certificate (if son/daughter of serviceman/ex-serviceman/war widow)
- Tattoo permission certificates (if tribal candidate with permanent tattoos)
- Sports certificates (if claiming sportsperson relaxation)
Step 3: Report at Rally Venue
- Report between 05:00 AM to 10:00 AM on specified rally date (NO LATE ARRIVALS)
- Report at designated rally venue with ALL original documents
- Bring 2 photostat copies of all documents (duly attested)
- Bring identification (Aadhaar/Voter ID/PAN/School ID)
- Wear light sports attire suitable for physical tests
- Wear sports shoes (clean, suitable for running)
- Arrive well-rested, well-fed (breakfast recommended)
- Bring water bottle & carry medicines if required
Step 4: Undergo Physical Fitness Test
- Complete physical fitness test as scheduled at rally venue
- Male: 1-mile run (timed), Pull-ups, Balance test, 9-foot ditch jump
- Female: 1-mile run (timed), Long jump, High jump, Balance test
- Follow instructions of physical training instructors carefully
- Attempt all tests earnestly and within prescribed timings
- Candidates scoring minimum required marks qualify for next stage
Step 5: Medical Examination & Further Tests
- Proceed to medical examination immediately after PFT
- Medical team verifies height, chest, weight, vision, hearing, color blindness
- Undergo tattoo verification if applicable
- Complete medical examination at venue on same day
- If applicable, attend trade test for your category
- Candidates passing medical & trade tests eligible for written exam
Step 6: Written Examination & Merit List
- Written examination date communicated to qualified candidates
- Common Entrance Exam (CEE) scheduled after rally culmination
- Examination details provided separately to cleared candidates
- Final merit list prepared from combined PFT, medical, trade, written exam scores
- Merit list displayed at unit headquarters and recruitment venues
• Time Strict: Report between 05:00-10:00 AM. No entry after 10:00 AM.
• Documents Mandatory: ORIGINAL documents required. Photostat copies attested by notary/1st Class Magistrate.
• Domicile Dates: Candidates must be domicile of the state/district ON or BEFORE the specific rally date listed.
• Physical Fitness Essential: No exemption from physical tests. All candidates must attempt all events.
• Medical Standards Non-Negotiable: Physical measurements strictly as per prescribed standards.
• Multiple Rallies Not Allowed: Candidates can appear at only one rally for one unit. Appearing at multiple rallies leads to disqualification.
• No Agents/Bribes: Selection on merit only. Beware of fake recruiters and agents.
• Venue Change Notification: If venue changes, notification provided through official channels only.

- ✓ Tattoo Permission Certificates: For tribal candidates with permanent tattoos (formats Appendix-A & B)

Rally Ongoing Period: 15 November 2025 – 14 December 2025
Documentation Day: 01 December 2025 (Reserve day for already qualified candidates)
General Instructions & Important Notes
- Merit-Based Selection: Selection entirely based on merit in physical fitness, medical fitness, trade test, and written examination. No other consideration.
- NO Bribes/Agents: Territorial Army recruitment is FAIR and TRANSPARENT. NO BRIBES ACCEPTED at any stage. Candidates should NOT fall prey to unscrupulous agents posing as recruiting agents.
- Eligibility Verification: All eligibility conditions verified during recruitment. False information/forged documents lead to lifetime disqualification and legal action.
- Document Authenticity: All documents verified from issuing authorities. Discrepancies result in rejection at any stage.
- Physical Standards Non-Negotiable: Height, chest, weight, and all physical measurements strictly as prescribed. No relaxation beyond specified criteria.
- Age Calculation: Age calculated as on the date of physical fitness test at recruitment rally. Birth date MUST match 10th class certificate exactly.
- Medical Fitness Essential: Only medically fit candidates can be enrolled. Candidates with corrected vision >6/9, hearing loss, or other disabilities may be ineligible.
- Reserve Liability Disqualification: Candidates with reserve liability or pending discharge from any armed force NOT eligible.
- Tattoo Policy: Only tribal community permanent tattoos with proper certificates allowed on specified body parts (inner forearm, palm/back side). Religious tattoos restricted to inner forearm only. Other tattoos lead to disqualification.
- Terms & Conditions: Selected candidates enrolling under TA Act 1948, TA Rules 1948 (as amended), and TA Regulations 1948. All military terms and conditions applicable.
