Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh – a Deemed to be University, invites applications for 56 contractual faculty positions on a temporary basis for 3 years across multiple departments.
This is a ROLLING ADVERTISEMENT that remains open throughout the year. Applications are processed twice yearly:

✅ Eligibility Criteria by Position
👨🏫 Assistant Professor (Engineering/Design)
- Essential: Ph.D. Degree
- Bachelors: First Class/Equivalent
- Masters: First Class/Equivalent
- Score: Merit-based shortlisting
⭐ Specialization Required: Must match department needs (see full brochure for branch/specialization details)
👨🏫 Assistant Prof (Sciences/Humanities)
- Ph.D. Degree: Mandatory
- OR NET/SLET/SET: Qualified (3 score points)
- Bachelors: First Class/Equivalent
- Masters: First Class/Equivalent
⭐ PhD Exemption: Pre-July 2009 PhD candidates exempt if conditions met (see brochure)
👨💼 Associate Professor
- Ph.D. Degree: First Class
- Experience: Minimum 8 Years
- Position: Asst Prof level or above
- Publications: Min 7 in SCI/ABDC journals
⭐ Research Score: Minimum 75 points required (See scoring criteria in brochure)
👨💼 Professor
- Ph.D. Degree: First Class
- Experience: Minimum 10 Years
- Teaching Exp: As Asst/Assoc Prof
- Publications: Min 10 in SCI/ABDC journals
⭐ Research Score: Minimum 120 points required. PhD guidance experience mandatory
💰 Consolidated Salary & Benefits (3-Year Contract)
🏠 HRA: At applicable rates (No campus accommodation provided)
📚 Professional Development: Max ₹1,00,000/year for 3 years (Within India only)
🔬 Seed Money: ₹10,00,000 for lab development + ₹2,00,000 contingency grant
⚠️ Note: No increments during contract period. Tax deductions applicable. NPS only if already enrolled.
🏆 Selection Process
- Academic Score: Evaluated as per Table-III (Asst Prof) or Table-IV (Associate/Professor)
- Shortlisting: Max 15 candidates per post called for interview (5 more per additional post)
- Interview Round: Includes seminar/sample teaching session + structured interview
- Verified Score: Cannot exceed claimed score. No marks without documentary proof
- Final Selection: Based on overall merit and interview performance
- No TA/DA: Candidates bear their own travel & accommodation expenses
